Our Story

In 2004, the UIC CHANCE Program was designed to assist the University of Illinois at Chicago with its goal to increase recruitment, retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, City Colleges of Chicago, Community-based Organizations, various Suburban School Districts and Charter Schools.

The UIC CHANCE Program offers students an opportunity to develop intellectual connections that embrace student learning (to identify gaps and/or areas of improvement). Our Success Series Model includes comprehensive programming tailored to support the needs of our student body as well as provide UIC students with real-world preparation and professional development.

CHANCE strives to achieve its four programmatic goals through the following initiatives:
  • Identify and Recruit .....

    underrepresented students

  • Retain.....

    underrepresented populations

  • Persist and Graduate.....

    underrepresented students

  • Establish Public and Private Partnerships.....

that prepare students for the 21st century global society!
